Active Release Techniques (A.R.T.)

A.R.T. is perfect for overuse injuries, helping to heal sprain/strains and releasing scar tissue.

Our providers are whole body certified to confidently work on muscle, tendon, ligament and nerve conditions. We often hear "Why didn't I know about this sooner?!" or "How did you zero in on the perfect spot, that is IT!!"

Example- Pressure is applied to the specific tissue and the patient is asked to move thru a range of motion to lengthen the tissue. So a patient with a hip flexor problem may lay on their side, with pressure applied deep to the psoas, while the patient extends their hip.

IASTM

Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization

We utilize a metal tool with lotion to glide over soft tissues that need improved blood flow. We often pair with active range of motion to enhance the IASTM release. Patients warmly refer to this tool as "The Scraper".

Example- Wearing a tank top, the skin is exposed at the upper back and levator muscles. The tool is applied to the chronically tight tissues with short or long strokes while the patient looks down and away.

McKenzie Mechanical Diagnosis (MDT)

Dr. Sellers is highly experienced in this technique.

MDT works well for classic sciatica, back and neck pain. You will be evaluated to see what movement and which specific direction of that movement is creating your symptoms. This information will then be used to guide your treatment.

Example-

A patient that is experiencing shooting pain into one arm (or both) may see a reduction of symptoms with repeated neck retractions.
